Welcome to my blog!

I completely abandoned it a year or so ago but I'm back, now, still trying to discern a call to ministry (?) and figure out how to weave the various strands of my spiritual interests together with what seems to be an insistent call I haven't yet answered.

How it will all look, I have no idea!

So these posts will be for me until I can figure out exactly what I will offer to others.

You're still welcome to join me for tea & contemplation. :)

Wednesday Wisdom on Friday: Intuitive Reading

There is energy stirring around creativity and passion. Moving to deeper waters and new dimensions, calling forth what you need so that it can manifest in your life.

Questions for Reflection

Your thoughts are powerfully creative. What have you been creating lately? How can you empower your thoughts so that what you create is what you wanted?

How are you handling tension and stress? Are you holding it in or finding ways to release it?

Are there situations in your life that need a breath of fresh air? Take them for a walk in the sunshine and see if any new insights come your way.

Don’t forget to play. Create a little fun in each day. How about splashing around in the water? Pool, ocean, bath. You may need to get yourself into or near the deep water.

How are you at spending time alone or enjoying your own company? If an opportunity comes your way for deepening your connection with yourself, take it. Dive right into it!

Seek Nurture and Comfort

This may be a time to seek comfort in the familiar. Return to what feels safe if things have been feeling uncertain. But don’t seek safety by shutting down emotionally. Stay open to your feelings.

The Native American Blessingway Baby Shower

The Blessingway Ceremony

"The blessingway ceremony helps a woman to prepare mentally, emotionally and spiritually for the work of birthing, and it opens her to the instinctive abilities, which will guide her as she steps into the role of mother." -Yana Cortlund, Barb Lucke and Donna Miller Watelet, Mother Rising

This book is one of the best one I found on this really beautiful ceremony! This lens will give you a lot of information on how to create a blessing ceremony for a mother-to-be, instead of a traditional baby shower.

Having a blessingway ritual doesn't mean getting rid of all that is traditional. You might still give gifts for the baby, or serve cupcakes, for example.

The basic process consists of four steps...

Creating Sacred Space
Shifting Negative Energy
Empowering & Opening to Guidance
Completing the Ritual

Deer Moon Dreamboard

I was tired this afternoon, and not really in the mood to put together a dreamboard. To be honest, I have been feeling discouraged lately.

And I suspect that today, I am sad, though I have no intention of examining that closely enough to figure out why.

But I did it anyway because I know how powerful it can be to offer a wish or an intention to the moon!

It's small, but heartfelt!

What are your wishes for this full moon? Share them here in the comment section if you would like or post them on the dreamboard page at full moon dreamboards.

When Were You Born? The Thunderbird Clan, Part Two

"The Thunderbird, to the Native Americans, is most often depicted in the form of an eagle. ... To align oneself with eagle medicine is to take on the responsibility and the power of becoming so much more than you now appear to be. To accept the eagle as a totem is to accept a powerful new dimension to life, and a heightened responsibility for your spiritual growth."--Ted Andrews, Animal Speak

(1) With eagle, you have access to spiritual growth and power, as well as the ability to move easily between the spiritual world and the earthly plane of existence.

(2) Eagle asks you to be willing to explore your emotions and connect more deeply to your inner child for healing, and for a greater sense of passion and creativity.

(3) Eagle offers alchemy and purification as you fly into your own sun! You may be given a healing role both for yourself and others.

(4) With Eagle, you have access to new vision, and an ability to see clearly into past, present and future.

How to Connect More Deeply

(1) Use Cedarwood to enhance intuition and connect with the Divine. Meditate and then journal about any insights or intuitive information that came to you.

(2) Write in your journal every day for at least 21 days. Notice any judgements you are making about others and write about any aspects of those traits in yourself. At the same time, keep a gratitude list, writing down at the end of each day what you are grateful for that you experienced.

Eagle Lessons

Eagle can teach you to see from a new perspective, to connect fearlessly to every hidden part of yourself, to let go of judgement, to heal and grow spiritually and remain grounded at the same time.

What Thunderbird/Eagle Offers

"The Thunderbird, to the Native Americans, is most often depicted in the form of an eagle. This was the great spirit who controlled lightning and rain, punishment and reward. To the Plains Cree all eagles had mystical power, and these powers could be shared by anyone who possessed part of the bird. To align oneself with eagle medicine is to take on the responsibility and the power of becoming so much more than you now appear to be. To accept the eagle as a totem is to accept a powerful new dimension to life, and a heightened responsibility for your spiritual growth."--Ted Andrews, Animal Speak

New Moon & Solar Eclipse: What Will You Manifest?

When a Total Solar Eclipse occurs on a NEW Moon a very special energy of transformation occurs. On July 11 this will take place. Are you ready ? Take time for this day, and utilize its extraordinary potentials for the positive. Keep your energy intact, and do not allow emotions to fray, and indeed the temptation to become anxious or over react will be there!

The last time there was a solar eclipse at this same degree of Cancer was in 1991; the next one will be in 2029. Think back to the personal themes in your life during the summer of 1991 and review the progress of your personal growth over the last 19 years. 1991 was a year of very significant transition on the Earth.
All eclipses indicate change; solar eclipses signify beginnings and usually manifest as events in the outer world. At solar eclipses we: begin something completely new, make promises to ourselves, commit, announce, present ourselves, show up, make plans, select events, make decisions, rise to the challenge, make an effort, change, mature, take on greater challenges, travel at a faster pace, feel restless, feel pressured by deadlines and a buildup of emotions, experience a crisis and feel excited.

Journal Questions...

(1) Do you feel the energy today?

(2) What would you like to see happen in your life?

(3) Is there anything you are ready to let go of, and if so, what would you like to see replace it?

Take some time to meditate and journal, responding to the opportunity for change and growth. After deciding what you want to create and release in your life, here's a ritual you could use to offer up these wishes to the moon...

Healing New Moon Ritual...

Light a candle and state your intention for this ritual. Breathe deeply and slowly, visualizing these changes as if they have happened already, perhaps while holding a quartz crystal in your between your hands.

Write down a few words that represent the changes you would like to see take place. Offer that paer to the new moon and then, find a spot on your windowsill to place it. Create a medicine wheel with five stones with the paper in the middle of the circle.

Say another prayer and blow out the candle.

Farmer, Ph.D, How to Connect with Your Animal Spirit Guide

If you were born during one of the date ranges listed below, you are part of the butterfly clan.

Native American Astrology

This astrology system is similar to others in that it is based on a twelve-month calendar and birthdates, but is different in that each birthdate range is matched to a power animal, a seasonal recommendation and seasonal animal, an element and an animal clan.

When Were You Born? The Turtle Clan in Native American Astrology

Which clan do you belong to: turtle, butterfly, frog or thunderbird?

This blog post is part of a series I will share this month about Native American spirituality, in general, and Native American astrology, in particular. Within that series, we are taking a look at each of the four clans.

Native American Astrology

As a spiritual system, it uses a twelve-month calendar and matches birthdates with power animals, moon phases, elements, stones and crystals, seasons and animal clans.

Native American astrology matches each month with a clan animal whose spirit helps you develop an intuitive inner knowing and a deeper connection with your true self. There are four clans: turtle, butterfly, frog and thunderbird.

The Turtle Clan

If you are a member of the turtle clan then that means that turtle is one of your power animals, with you for life, helping you connect with your true self...

April 20th-May 20th
August 23rd-September 22nd

What Turtle Offers You

"Turtle is the calm, cool and collected contemplator." --Stefanie Weiss, Spirit Animals: Unlocking the Secrets of Our Animal Companions

If you are feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges, stressed out or jangled by your frenetic, hectic, schedule and you know you need to stop and recover, turtle can help. If you need restful time in nature, take turtle along as a silent companion.

If you're worried about "not enough" ~~ it feels like there isn't enough time to get it all done or not enough money for what you need, etc., call on turtle's grounding, comforting, nurturing energy.

Some Native Americans believe that the shell of the turtle symbolizes the spiritual protection it offers. You also can call on its energy when you want to deepen your connection to Mother Earth.

How to Deepen Your Connection

(1) Use vanilla essential oil. Its warm, comforting, nurturing, earth-mother energy complements turtle's energy and will help to enhance your experience.

(2) Take a day off and spend some of that time journaling. Slow down the pace a little. Move more slowly through your day. Remember that you're not trying to win the race, you just need to get to the finished line at some point.

Turtle Lessons

From time to time, ask yourself if you are taking enough time for yourself. Turtle will help you nurture and ground yourself.

Are there things you aren't seeing or hearing that are important? Are you missing vital information as life flies by? Turtle sharpens vision and can give you with clairaudience.
